Anoka Conservation District Annual Tree SaleThe Anoka County Conservation District is now taking orders for their annual tree sale. These are seedlings trees/shrubs and are generally under 2' tall. These are great native species that are better suited for the properties that have large easements or boarder wetlands as they take a number of years to reach maturity. These seedlings however are extremely cost effective and are an excellent start to furthering your backyard conservation habitat!
The spring Andover tree sale would be better suited for larger trees for your yard. Information will be posted on that sale as soon as it is available.Email:Shawnrogers@Realtor.com -
Wood Duck HouseThis is another great project to do with the kids. You'll want to work on it over the winter or very early spring so you can hang it in a tree by early April. If you live near a water source, this is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the habitat for wood ducks. Wood ducks are cavity dwellers and they have a very difficult time in finding suitable nesting spots. The efforts to build wood duck houses has dramitically helped stablize their nesting options. They are cheap to build, highly effective, and are a great project to help teach the kids valuable lessons.
Visit the website I've linked below and download the step by step instructions for building a nest! If you have any questions at all, feel free to contact me!Email:Shawnrogers@Realtor.com -
